On this First Sunday of Lent, we enter a season of honest reflection through two healing stories from John’s Gospel. A desperate parent trusts Jesus’ word before seeing the outcome, and a man who has been ill for decades is asked a searching question: “Do you want to be made well?” Lent invites us into that same question—not as accusation, but as invitation. Where have we grown used to what diminishes us? Where is Christ calling us to trust, to rise, and to walk in newness of life? In worship, prayer, and Word, we listen for the voice that still speaks healing before we see the evidence and courage before we feel ready, trusting that God’s grace meets us exactly where we are and gently leads us toward abundant life.
