United Methodist Special Offerings



The United Methodist Church recognizes several special Sundays throughout the year. Each special Sunday and its corresponding offering are typically used to support specific causes and programs related to each Sunday's theme.  Below is a list of the special offerings and what they support.  We aim to donate at least $1.00 per member per year to each of the offerings.

  1. Human Relations Day - observed on the Sunday before Martin Luther King Jr. Day, this Sunday focuses on promoting social justice and human rights. The offering collected on this Sunday is used to support the work of the United Methodist Board of Church and Society, which advocates for social justice and human rights on a national and international level.

  2. UMCOR Sunday - observed on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday, this Sunday focuses on raising funds for the United Methodist Committee on Relief, which assists people affected by natural disasters and other emergencies around the world. The offering collected on this Sunday is used to support the work of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), which provides assistance to people affected by natural disasters and other emergencies around the world.

  3. Native American Ministries Sunday - observed on the fourth Sunday in April, this Sunday focuses on raising awareness and funds for Native American ministries within the United Methodist Church. The offering collected on this Sunday is used to support the programs and mission of the United Methodist Committee on Native American Ministries, which includes providing scholarships for Native American students, supporting Native American congregations, and promoting cultural awareness and understanding.

  4. Peace with Justice Sunday - observed on the Sunday after Pentecost, this Sunday focuses on promoting peace and justice worldwide. The offering collected on this Sunday is used to support the work of the United Methodist Board of Church and Society, which advocates for peace and justice on a national and international level, as well as to support the work of the Peace with Justice Sunday Offering.

  5. World Communion Sunday - observed on the first Sunday in October, this Sunday celebrates the unity of Christians worldwide through the sacrament of Holy Communion. The offering collected on this Sunday is used to support the education and leadership development of ethnic minority students and scholars worldwide and to support the work of the World Communion Sunday Offering.

  6. United Methodist Student Day - observed on the last Sunday in November, this Sunday focuses on raising funds for scholarships for United Methodist students. The offering collected this Sunday is used to provide scholarships for United Methodist students pursuing higher education.
