Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing UMH 400

Prayer of Confession

Gracious and merciful God, we confess that we have often mistaken ourselves for the ones in control. We have held tightly to the reins of our lives, thinking we could navigate the journey on our own. Forgive us, Lord, for our pride and self-reliance. Help us surrender our will to yours and acknowledge your rightful place as the true Pilot of our lives. Hear our prayer, O God.

Words of Assurance

Leader: The Lord, in His abundant love, forgives us and offers a fresh start.
People: We are forgiven, and our hearts are made new in Christ.

Reflections and Caring Conversations

Please use the prompts and prayers below to aid you in your devotions for this week.

  • Morning Prayer: Heavenly Father, As the sun rises and a new day dawns, We come before You with gratitude in our hearts. Thank You for the gift of life and the opportunities this day brings. Help us to release our desire for control And submit to Your perfect plan for our lives. Grant us wisdom and discernment To recognize Your presence and leading throughout the day. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

  • Evening Prayer: Loving God, As the day draws to a close, We come before You in reflection and gratitude. Thank You for guiding us through this day, Even in moments when we tried to take control. Forgive us for our self-reliance and lack of trust. Help us surrender our lives to You completely. As we rest tonight, may Your peace envelop us, And may we awaken tomorrow with renewed faith in Your sovereignty. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

  • Reflection Question 1: In what areas of my life am I trying to maintain control instead of surrendering to God's will?

  • Reflection Question 2: How can I follow Jesus' example of surrendering to God's plan, even in the face of suffering and challenges?

  • Reflection Question 3: What spiritual practices can I incorporate into my daily routine to help me relinquish control and submit to God's will?
