When Did We See You?

Pastor Kevin Rutledge - 3/26/2023 10:00 AM

As we come to the final week of our sermon series, "The Ways of the Kingdom," we turn our attention to the passage found in Matthew 25:31-46. This passage describes the final judgment, where the Son of Man will separate the sheep from the goats.

The sheep are commended for their acts of love and service, such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and visiting the sick and imprisoned. On the other hand, the goats are condemned for their lack of love and service. Ultimately, our salvation is based on Jesus Christ and his decisions, and his decision may surprise us.

Reflections and Caring Conversations

Please use the prompts and prayers below to aid you in your devotions for this week.

  • Scripture Verse for the Week: “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” ~ Matthew 25:40

  • Mealtime Prayer: Bless this food to our bodies, Lord Jesus, and us to your works. Let this food and drink sustain us so that we can love and serve others. Amen.

  • Prayer for the Week: Heavenly King, thank you for including us as your sheep. Help us always to see you in others, especially when we meet people who are in need. Remind us that when we serve those who are in need, we are serving you. Amen.

  • Thinking about This Week’s Story: When we serve others, we are serving Jesus. Name one way that you served someone else today. How did someone serve you?

  • Getting Ready for Next Week’s Story: Jesus makes his triumphal entry into Jerusalem. People were praising Jesus by saying “Hosanna!” Can you name one way that you praised Jesus today? Did you pray for someone? Did you sing to Jesus? Did you help someone?

  • Service Challenge: Have each person in your household pick three pieces of their clothing to donate to a local thrift store. Drop off the donation together at some point during the week.
