• The Parent Sessions,
A Framework for Support in Raising Children.
Berwyn UMC is sponsoring a program to develop a healthy perspective and
confidence in your parenting skills.
The monthly parent sessions will resume at Schieck Hall at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24.
The theme is “An Evening With Ann Smith: Boundary Setting With Your Teen.”
The meeting is free and open to the public.Ann Smith is the executive director of Breakthrough at Caron in Wernersville, Pa., a five-and-a-half-day residential group-therapy program designed to help adults shift destructive life patterns, improve relationships. and foster personal growth. Ann has a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling and is licensed as both a professional counselor and a marriage and family therapist. She is the author of Grandchildren of Alcoholics: Another Generation of Co-dependency and Overcoming Perfectionism: The Key to a Balanced Recovery. In the parent session at BUMC, Ann will lead a discussion of how parents should confront the challenging task of setting good boundaries. She will give guidance on managing disrespectful attitudes, under-standing irresponsible behaviors, and establishing limits while trying to keep family relationships healthy.
Other sessions will be led by licensed clinical social worker
A. Michael Blanche will present a theoretical
framework with practical interventions that will reinforce what has been working
within your home along with providing innovative options.
Other facilitators are Ann W. Smith, MS, LPC, LMFT, NCC, Executive Director, Breakthrough at Caron and
Louis Bevilacqua, Psy, D., Author of When You Can’t Snap Our of It: Finding Your Way Through Depression.

Presenting a theoretical framework with practical interventions that will rein-force what has been working within your home and provide innovative options for engaging your resistant teen.
